The main elements of apocalyptic literature and belief found in Old English Literature are the Antichrist, the Last Days and the Last Judgement. I have also included the Afterlife as a distinctive trait of the visionary apocalypses, which are often not recognised as apocalypses. Due to lack of space, I have to concentrate on the more common apocalyptic elements within these tables. The others will be discussed in detail within the commentaries of the individual texts. A click on one of the elements will lead to a more detailed table of this segment. You can also click on the 'X', if you wish to gain information about this specific element in the specified text, or click on the text, if you wish to get the detailed information about the text.Click for footnote
