Fire
Fire
comes synchronic with the resurrection of the dead (line
490). It will devour the world with immense ferocity (lines
502-08), but leave the blessed unharmed (lines
518-521). Heat will embrace many (lines
521/22) and wickedness will be burned (lines
525/26). But fire will also serve as purgatory at judgement
and purify the souls of men (lines
544/45).
Rapture
The
blessed are said to leave and group themselves while the earth is
burning (lines
500-501).
Parousia
Christ,
symbolised by the Phoenix, will come in the hour of Revelation,
when everybody is called from their graves (lines
508-510).
Resurrection
of the Dead
The Body, separated from the soul, will remain in the earth until
the coming of the fire (lines
489-490). At the time of the fire, the souls will return to
their bodies (lines
519-520) in the graves, from where the 'divine authority' will
raise them (lines
511-514). They will be 'led into congregation' (lines
495-500) and proceed to judgement (lines
522-525). The bodies of the blessed will be 'peerless and rejuvenated'
(line
536).
Last
Judgement
How
to become blessed
'By
courage and by main strength, the soldiers of the Lord accomplish
his will and strive towards glories.' (lines
470-472) The blessed earn their place by 'virtues and praiseworthy
deeds', out of which they form a protection from 'malicious attacks'.
Among those deeds are almsgiving, prayer, resistance against vices
and evil and the keeping of God's law (lines
444-463). The chosen prove their love to God continuously and
put God above what the world has to offer (lines
476-480).
Separation
of the Righteous and the Sinful
The
separation into two groups is not mentioned explicitly, but the
righteous can be easily distinguished from the sinful: they are
clothed in their good deeds (lines
526-528 and 534-538).
God/Christ
Sits at Judgement
The
Lord himself passes judgement over the multitudes he has called
from their graves (lines
492-494). At another point, Christ is said to 'shine from his
high throne' (lines
514-516)
Heavenly
Kingdom
The Paradise, which had been lost by Adam's fall, can be regained
through Christ: the Heavenly Kingdom.
The blessed will gain a habitation therein as a reward for their
deeds. A bright halo, braided with gems will make their heads glisten,
and they will be clothed in light. The blessed will sit on thrones
and live in light, peace and eternal happiness. Nothing can harm
them in their new home, 'not strife nor poverty nor days of toil,
violent hunger nor cruel thirst, disease nor age'. They will sing
and praise the Lord eternally. See the following passages: lines
404-424,
474-475,
482-489,
539-543,
557-563,
583-632
or 667-677
Afterlife
Heaven
The soul of Job will be set free at the hour of death, ergo before
the Judgement, and 'awakened in glory' (lines
563-567)
